About Me
Jody Pratt, LMFT
As a marriage and family therapist licensed in California, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, my approach to therapy is holistic and systemic. I typically work with individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, or depression. Many of my adult clients have difficult or less-than-ideal relationships with their parents.
Master Certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy
If you’re all talked out or have details that are too painful to share out loud, ART does not require sharing. It is designed to change neural connections through bilateral stimulation and guided visualization of your problem. It’s safe, efficient, and applicable to almost any issue. How much you choose to share or keep to yourself is not a barrier to progress.
What My Clients Should Know
My style is curious, honest, and direct. I am genuinely interested in understanding and hearing you. I will not do all the talking, but neither will you. I am acutely aware that often, what people come to therapy to address is not simple or easy to discuss because it’s very painful and personal.
If you want to talk, I create an environment that is safe for you to express yourself honestly. I give you the space to sort things out verbally, and I will recognize the significance of what you are sharing. I will not simplify, minimize, or make assumptions. By the end of the session, you might feel exhausted but also lighter and freer.

My Approach to Therapy
I see you as a multifaceted human being from a unique historical context who lives in a complex situation. Your emotions and behaviors are products of how your upbringing—and your responses to it—interact with your current environment. This does not mean we spend all our time discussing your childhood, but your upbringing does inform how you operate now.
I also approach therapy with an awareness that our emotions and reactions actually reside in our bodies. We experience emotions physically, even though we are often unaware of this aspect. Addressing physicality alongside thoughts and feelings is essential to moving through and beyond our current reality. ART and other somatic approaches help us with this piece.

What Clients Can Expect to Take Away from My Sessions
You will hopefully feel safe enough to be truly honest with yourself and come away with deep shifts and a calmer nervous system. I’m not a "tips-and-tricks" therapist, as I firmly believe in addressing the underlying issues, patterns, and reactions to create lasting change.
